"Madonna Comix, a large-format, fine art book and exhibition by visual artist Dianne Kornberg and poet Celia Bland about women as physical, sexual, maternal, sacrificial and spiritual beings. It is the culmination of a collaboration that began in 2009. The poems' original title sparked an association with "Little Lulu", the proto-feminist, sassy cartoon heroine Kornberg loved as a child. She turned to the original comic books from her own collection, scanning pages to create a pentimento effect. Kornberg's determination to explicate poetic imagery transformed her from fine-art photographer to photo-based digital printmaker. Madonna Comix will be exhibited at Lesley Heller Workspace, New York City (June 2014) and Western Gallery, Bellingham, WA (September-November 2014)." -- Excerpts from madonnacomix.com.
