Summary:	Bud Greenspan was fascinated by the ways in which athletes handle victory and defeat, and this is evident in the various interviews he conducted for his tribute to the IV Olympic Winter Games, Calgary '88: 16 Days of Glory. He also pays particular attention to the local color and environment of Calgary, which is close to the Rocky Mountains and full of First Nations and Inuit traditions. Diligent archival research enhances Greenspan's documentaries and sets each athlete's performance in a historical context. Although not all the winter disciplines are displayed, time is spent on more than one medalist in each of the events selected by Greenspan, creating suspense and momentum.
