The religious faiths in our country-all of them-maintain great principles in common. They believe in God. They command the virtue of loyalty to our country. They demand the highest standards of morals, of truth and integrity; the highest performance of public office; a willingness to self-sacrifice for the common good. These principles have in no way been suspended by our gigantic discoveries in science and invention. Secretary Benson is the embodiment of these principles and this faith. The Church has a special distinction. In times of unemployment and war they have taken care of their own people without charge on the Treasury of the United States. The Church has stood adamant for the Constitution both in business and education. It has also been a staunch supporter of every other basic freedom. -- Herbert Hoover -- amazon.com
