This book is mainly concerned with silversmithing operations (though less expensive materials are also described) and with etching as a decorative process. It was written to help beginners and those experienced metalworkers in other braches who wish to extend their range of work. The author has given emphasis to some aspects of metalwork that he feels have been neglected or not sufficiently well covered previously. One of these is raising, and another is etching, to which he had devoted a chapter. There are also chapters on tools and materials, and on design. Hard and soft soldering and the hardening and tempering of carbon steel tools are among the processes dealt with. The book is illustrated throughout with working diagrams by the author, and with photographs of finished work. -- amazon.com
