George Duncan, an American, lives and works in London. All of the women with whom he has relationships eventually leave him for being too nice.One night he is woken by a terrific keening, coming from his garden. A great white crane has been shot through the wing with an arrow. The next morning, Kumiko walks into his print shop, asks George to help her with her artwork.... and his life is transformed.
