In protest of society's ills, he threatens to commit suicide by jumping off the roof of City Hall on Christmas Eve, causing a media firestorm that gets Ann her job back. She hires Long John Willoughby to pose as John Doe and his portrayal is so real that even Ann herself begins to fall for the ruse.
