Examines the conflict between the desire to bring Alaskan oil to market and increase the energy supply versus the desire to protect the land and wildlife. Discusses the engineering feat of building an 800-mile pipeline that traverses three mountain ranges and thirty-four rivers, and that has to withstand earthquakes and subzero temperatures.
