Yorick Brown, the last man on Earth, and his companions make a brief stop in Australia, where his fiancee Beth has been stranded since the plague hit. Unfortunately, they can't afford to stop. Instead they must go on toward Japan, where Ampersand, who may hold the cure to the plague, has been taken.
